The Tyler Trudeau Attempt is a rock band that believes pop music should try to be art and that art needs to be enjoyable. Taking the energy of punk rock and applying it to ideas from several decades' worth of pop music, the Attempt is at once art-punk and total sock-hop music, revisionist and forward-thinking. Recorded around the middle of 2006, In My Despair, I Took Up Painting is the second studio EP they've released (the first being Why Don't You Come Out to My Twist Party?, released in early 2003). Its five songs detail underemployment, youthful ambition, gender confusion, political alienation and provincial pride with dry wit and irrepressible pop hooks. The band's members live in or near New Haven, CT.

This disc is everything it says in the hype above: pop, art, punk, rock, enjoyable. Great, catchy tunes, that point to their own genre. -- You should contact the band and try to get ahold of "Twist Party", their first, as well
