Palace of Wisdom first came together in the 90's. The name was inspired by the William Blake quote "the road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom". The name can also be considered an homage to Jim Morrison and the Doors, since it was an interest in them that led to the discovery of the quote.

Despite some early changes to the band line up and some difficulty finding and keeping a drummer, the five primary members of Palace of Wisdom have long been Joe Kadilak on bass guitar, Joe Estrela and Chris Wallask on lead and rhythm guitar, Sean Kennedy on drums, and Phil Albertelli on vocals.

Influenced by bands as diverse as the Doors and Pantera, Palace of Wisdom possesses a unique heavy sound; a sound dark and electrifying, offering aggressive rhythms overlaid with tortured vocals.
