Born in New England, Monica Taft graduated from a local college with honors. While attending college, Monica studied Classical and Broadway works extensively, lending her strong vocals to several choirs and choruses, and performed in several local musical productions. In addition, she has studied and played piano for over 20 years, and is currently attending Berklee College of Music. A passionate and a deep appreciation of great vocalists and songwriters like Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Ricki Lee Jones, Chrissie Hinds, Sade, Gladys Knight, Marvin Gaye, Donald Fagan, and Stevie Wonder have influenced Monica's writing and vocal style.
