A buddy of mine who's a disc jockey at WQBK (Q103) in Albany, NY played this song one day on the air. I was immediately hooked. A few days later he played it again, this time giving out the information as to where it could be purchased (this site). As soon as I got home, I came to the site and purchased it. Through all the incarnations the band Boston has been through, the best music the band ever put out was when Delp and Goodreau were the vocalist/guitar team. This song brings that vibe back. It's catchy, danceable, and well written with references to classic Boston songs sprinkled within the autobiographical lyrics. The news of Brad Delp's death saddened me immensely when I heard it. When this song was released later, hearing Delp do his thing one more time, especially with Barry Goodreau, was almost therapeutic.

Unfortunately this is the last tune from Brad Delp. Grew up listening to his songs. Will badly be missed by all his fans. R.I.P. brother and thanks Barry for making this final song. Rock on.

I just heard this song and immediatly ordered the Rockin' Away CD. Brad Delp's uplifting, soaring and poignant vocals flourished with both Tom Scholz and Barry Goodreau (two stellar guitarists). Brad Delp was also a humanitarian and animal loving vegetarian. His final act of kindness was safeguarding his cat on his last day. God Bless Brad Delp's humane soul.
Rockin' Away ...for sure!

This tune is true the legendary "Boston" style. Having grown up with Boston (in New England I might add), Boston was a staple for anyone who knew Rock & Roll, and "Rockin' away" takes me back to the "More than a Feeling" days. As stated previously, this song brings teary eyes seeing that the world of "Real" music has lost a great Musician/ Vocallist Brad Delp. Thank you so very much Bary for keeping Brad's memory alive, Great work! from Wayne C. in New Hampshire.

Great, well crafted, Pop-Rock tune! such a fitting
gem all things considered. Bittersweet, but mostly sweet! I hope it's ok for a 48 year old guy to shed a tear because thats exactly what I did the first time I hear it. Love ya Brad.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to rockin away!! Thanks Barry, really! love you too!

I love this song. I think Brad's the greatest vocalist of all-time and I'm a huge fan of Barry as well. Tom ruined Boston but I won't get into it here.
Barry is a fantastic musician and there is so much great music that he and Brad recorded. And the two demonstrate some neat variety in their music. If you listen to "Delp & Goudreau" you can hear a real Beatles influence, but "Out of My Hands" is completely modern while still sounding like Barry and Brad.
Thanks, Barry, for this great single. I've loved it since I first heard it and I really enjoy singing along to it.
The only line I'm not sure about is the one I listed as "Just as Maggie was stuck in my vein" It might be "Just like it was stuck in my vein" but I really can't be sure even though I've listened to it a bunch.

Does Anyone know the lyrics to Rockin' Away?

Hi, Does Anyone know the lyrics to this song? Thank You. I give this song a 10 if I could. I am really pissed at Tom Sholz for continuing to hold a grudge and not allow Brad do what he always wanted to do for the past 30 years, and that was to have all of the original members back in Boston, and he was hoping this song would do it. But NO, Tom was and is so selfish. Maybe Brad would be around if Tom acted human and showed some compassion. It takes many people to make a rock band, not just one. Tom thought he was invinsible and whatever he said was the way it was going to be. Now, he still is a talented guitarist, but with no singer. He can stick with the new people he has, but it will never be the same. He is nothing that special that he couldn't allowed Brad to have his way for an album and a tour. No, he had to wait until Brad killed himself to actually do it, and, it was too late. Everything is TOO LATE for Tommy. Ps:If you doubt what I say or are skeptical, don't be, because the reason I say this is because I WAS THERE the whole time and know the truth.

Beautiful, powerful and fantastic song. Brad's vocals and Barry's guitar are a perfect combination. Brad Delp is the most truly talented and incredible singer I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. I think I can speak for all Boston/RTZ fans when I say "we miss you, Brad". This song is evidence of what could've been.

This song brought a tear to my eye when I first heard it. Brad's voice is still electric and reminded me of the times I was fortunate to see Boston live. It is a DOT NOT miss purchase for any Boston fan. It make me sad of what could have been and all the yaers wasted bickering. Thank you Barry for letting us in on this incredible recording.God bless.

I have to tell you that in my opinion, this song comes closest to that 'classic' Boston sound of the first 2 albums then anything that I've heard from 'Third Stage' onward.
Brad's voice is mixed right out front where it's warmth can really be experienced. Musically, there are parts that call to mind songs from the first two albums and lyrically there are a few times where song titles from the debut are used as lyrics as a nod to how things started out.
Barry points out that it's basically Brad's story, but with Barry on Guitar and Sib playing the drums there is an intangible at work that both brings a huge smile to my face listening to it and a feeling of sadness knowing that we'll most likely never have the opportunity to hear Brad singing something new again.
If you have any Boston or Brad & Barry fans on your Xmas list consider putting this in their stocking. They'll thank you.

I grew up with "Boston" and the rock is clear and clean. The talent those guys have for just playing together back at MIT is unreal! Now this song is just like a cut from their first album and Brads vocals are as strong as ever. I will miss his talents that we could have heard and as a fellow parent my prayers go out to his children. BUY THE DISC AND HELP OUT!!!

If you had the pleasure to experience music from the rock group "Boston", then you will truly love this tune. The lyrics combined with composed music makes it an excellent song that will definately get stuck in your head for quite some time. My heart goes out to his children and may his spirit and with the help of this song, his memory last in all that knew him. Buy the song. Truly worth it!

Hearing the Brad Delp's vocals reminds me of the loss that I've felt since his passing, but aside from that ROCKIN' AWAY will have you cranking the volume knob up back like you did in the "old days". This one has that classic RTZ and OTH sound that we've waited much too long for. Buy it!
